Clarifying Islamic Rulings on Nail Enhancements
Permissibility of Praying with Fake Nails
According to Islamic scholars, it is acceptable to pray while wearing fake nails, provided that they are permeable to water during ablution (Wudu) and full ritual purification (Ghusl). This is because water must reach the skin beneath the nails for these religious practices to be valid.
Removal of Fake Nails for Ablution and Ritual Purification
Although acrylic nails may not permanently alter the nails, their adhesive and polish can only be removed with solvents. Therefore, they must be removed temporarily during Wudu and Ghusl.
Prohibition of False Eyelashes
False eyelashes, however, are considered impermissible in Islam. This prohibition falls under the ruling against wearing hair extensions, as false eyelashes are seen as a form of artificial hair addition.
