Jordan Bardella The New Face Of The Far Right In France

Jordan Bardella: The New Face of the Far Right in France

Early Life and Education

Jordan Bardella was born on September 13, 1995, in Drancy, a suburb of Paris, France. He is the son of Mario Bardella, an Italian immigrant, and Marie-Pierrette Bardella, a French nurse.

Bardella attended the Lycée Jean-Jaurès in Montreuil, where he was a member of the student union. He later studied political science at the Panthéon-Sorbonne University in Paris.

Political Career

Bardella joined the National Front (now the National Rally) in 2012. He was elected to the party's executive committee in 2017 and became its vice-president in 2019. In 2021, he was elected president of the party, succeeding Marine Le Pen.

Bardella is a member of the European Parliament, representing the Île-de-France region. He is a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.

Ideology

Bardella is a self-described "nationalist" and "sovereignist." He is opposed to illegal immigration and the European Union. He is also a supporter of traditional values and opposes same-sex marriage and adoption.

Bardella's election as president of the National Rally has been seen as a sign of the growing popularity of far-right politics in France. He is a charismatic and articulate spokesman, and his ability to appeal to young voters is a particular concern for the French government.
